The most common area of the body that both men and women want to work on these days is their tummy. A flabby tummy looks awful. So everybody is rushing to get six pack abs. Although it is possible to attain six pack abs with sincerity, abdominal workout and dedication but then there are some myths surrounding six pack abs. Read on to find out some of the myth busters…

There are several myths surrounding six pack abs. People believe in such myths and hence reduce their chances of attaining impressive six pack abs to a great extent. Hence it becomes imperative to bust these myths.

Here are some myth-busters:

Myth: Only Cardio exercises are enough

Fact- Focusing only on cardio-based workouts won’t take you anywhere. In fact people who concentrate only on cardio-based workout routines loose less body fat as compared to people who indulge in resistance training-based routines. Your abs can’t be visible unless you lose weight. And the best way to do that is to follow resistance training based routines along with cardio exercises.

Myth: Diet pills can help you attaining abs

Fact- If diet pills could help youattain those highly sought after six pack abs, then most people in this world would have been sporting well-toned bodies. It’s true that some steroids can have the weight losing effect, but then they are illegal and can land you in jail if you get caught using them. And they also have deadly side-effects. So give up the idea of consuming diet pills at all. Best way is to follow proper stomach flattening exercisesregime along with good diet with dedication. Remember slow and steady wins the race.

Myth: It’s sufficient to indulge in abdominal exercises only

Fact- Exercise regime which includes only crunches, sit-ups and leg raises is not going to take you anywhere. Abs exercises can help you develop muscles, but it won’t help you loose fat on the belly.

You need to get rid of that excess fat on your belly in order to show your abs. And the only way to do that is to combine low-calorie diet, along with weight-resistance program, and cardio exercises.

Myth: Everyday training is essential

Fact: Rest is important. Just like your body needs sleep after a hard day’s work, similarly your abdominal muscles require rest. They are not different from any other muscle group. You need to give your six pack abs enough time to rest in order to recuperate. Your focus should be on quality and not quantity.

Myth: If you stop training your abs will become fat

Fact- Generally people are scared that once they stop training, their abs would turn into fat. But that’s not true. If you continue to eat sensibly and maintain an active lifestyle, your flat abs will remain as they are, even if you stop training. But if you give up exercising and start gorging on junk food, then be sure that your abs will definitely disappear. So it’s important that you maintain an active lifestyle even after you have discontinued the training routine.

Myth: Gene affects your chances of gaining six pack abs

Fact: That doesn’t hold true at all. Even if by heredity you are blessed with a good metabolism, it doesn’t mean that you can eat anything and everything and still have impressive six pack abs. No matter whether you have good genes or not, you need to follow proper exercise regime and a balanced diet to attain those highly sought after six pack abs.
